Hi all,

I got home from Chicago last night around 1130pm. I'm still tired! We walked around the Botanic Gardens for about three hrs before my daughter took me to Midway!

Its 90degrees here! I'm livu g it compared to the rain and cold in Chicago!

I'm going to start to look for a rental soon in The suburbs so I have a place of my own. Its hard cause I only want a studio apartment but not in the city. I need my own space. Man is it expensive in the Chicago area!!!

We will be snow birds!!

Any ideas??

Carla

Good Morning,

I am glad you had a good trip. My suggestion would be to get a real estate person to do the legwork for you.

Chris and Dave, have a great trip.

Crystal, I agree with you, moving is Hell. That is why we have been here since 1975. I shudder to think about packing up this house, and the 2 storage spaces we have.

I need to get outside and poison some weeds, but I hate doing it when it is so cold out. But, it has to get done. So, hopefully, I can get it done today, maybe when it warms up a bit.

I have given up the puzzle from H. I told Hubert last night, he said to leave it, and he will work on it. We shall see.

Hugs,

Lisa

Good morning everyone,

Great to hear that you had a good time.

Good luck on you journey hunting for a studio apartment. You got that right about Chicago in being expensive. If I had my way and the money I would move to Arizona.

I've been busy off & on for the past few weeks with life. I do have an appointment tomorrow with the doctor that did my weight loss surgery and did my pannectomy/ventral hernia surgery, the reason I have an appointment with him is to find out if I would need hernia surgery of not, I think he might tell me that I would need it. I told this to my joint replacement doctor and he told me "if you need to have the hernia surgery, make an appointment to see me 6 weeks after I have my hernia surgery.", also I was told by my weight loss surgery surgeon's nurse practitioner that the recovery time for the hernia surgery is 1 month. All depends what my doctor says tomorrow about if I need the hernia or not let along a surgery date that will determine if I'll go to Arizona (some time during the first week of June or so) to help out my aunt with her two dogs and one cat for a few days while she's in Chicago.

Other wise I'm doing good. Just busy with life for the last few weeks off & on as I said.

I can't wait for June 2, 2015 to get so I can get the new Stephen King that's coming out called "Finders Keepers".

Have a great day everyone.

Hello everyone

I am tired.  I can't wait till we are settled and all is done.

I keep thinking of more things we need for the house.  It's like a never ending list.  When you go from an apartment to a house there are so many things you need.  First off....everything for the outside.  And just a bunch of little tiny things that add up.  I wanted to make a list and just go to Menards and get everything at once....but we keep forgetting things or finding more things we need.

At least I'm eating healthy and I am being very active.  So I am losing weight steadily.  Here I was worried that I wasn't going to lose weight during this time.

Good luck to Carla on finding that studio apartment.

Well back to work.  Have a good day all.

Crystal, suggestion - start hitting home garage sales as you might find yard tools - shovels, rakes, lawnmower, edgers, blowers etc.

Check on estate sales as they might need to get "rid" of those items.

Hey Carla,

We, too, have been looking for something smaller and if I could, I'd move to Berwyn. But G isnt a fan.  It is super cheap, has Chicago water ( a must for me, I'm done buying bottled water and salt for a water softener anymore)  and it is right next to the city. The downside: it is a changing neighborhood and some people are turned off by that. It is much cheaper than Oak Park (it's neighbor). 10 mins north there is a Trader Joes and Whole Foods. It has a city vibe as well as feeling like the burbs. I dont know if they have a lot of condos/apartments to rent, but I'd give it a holla. I am also looking into over 55 communities. G is not a fan of that either, but who know???? Good Luck! It will be nice to have you here more.......
